Since we started this program four (4) years ago, we have
been able to lift some locals in the rural areas out of poverty by providing
start-up capitals for their businesses or trading.
All AGAF empowerment programs come from our personal savings
and income from the coordinators of AGAF, therefore we appeal to donors for
financial assistance to enable us effectively carry out all these projects.
The approach of economic development will likely bring
empowerment to the rural community.
Emphasis is on community participation, grassroots
initiative for self-reliance, we offer free seminars before and after the loan
application to participants. During the free seminar programs, participants are
able to define their problems and limitations, and having the ability and
capacity to solve their problems themselves with our small start-up loans, we
call this the pre-micro credit seminar.
Finally, AGAF is committed that all programs and projects from the participants are supported, implemented and monitored to ensure that the intended results, outcome and output are achieved. Our empowerment intervention is to reduce different vulnerabilities of urban poor people mainly working with women and young adults to build their vocational skills. This project will help in creating a stronger foundation for sustainable rural development since the focus is on themselves and their communities, it will reduce crime rate among the youths in the slums.
